DIG Police Hyderabad, Khadim Hussain Rind has said that no one would be allowed to threat business community for extortion and if anyone demands for extortion, Police should be informed without any delay so that a prompt and stern action could be taken against him. Because of sacrifices of police personnel, people of Hyderabad have been enjoying a peaceful atmosphere for the last few months, he asserted.
He was addressing a seminar on "Crime, Reasons, Effects and Remedies" jointly organised by Pakistan Civil Society Hyderabad and Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) at its secretariat. Rind said that due to peace in Karachi and Hyderabad, businessmen did their businesses without any fear and last two Eids were evident when business activities were on the peak.
To eliminate crimes from the society, he underlined the need for basic training of children at their homes besides providing education. He said that business community is the backbone of the society and all possible measurers would be taken to protect people's life and property.
He lauded the media and civil society for co-operating with police in eliminating crimes. Addressing the participants, Divisional Director Information Hyderabad Khurshid Ali Shaikh said, "To discourage crimes in society, we need to bring change in our behaviour." Chairman Pakistan Civil Society Hyderabad Qayoom Nusrat also spoke on the occasion and said that unjustified distribution of resources and ignoring the merit were the reasons of crimes while poverty was also a cause of hate and intolerance in the society which lead to crimes.
He said elimination of class system and poverty and equal distribution of resources could help create a better society. Senior Vice President HCCI Turab Ali Khuaja addressing the seminar said that extreme poverty and unemployment were the reasons for crimes. He said that by creating job opportunities and making police free from political influence crime rate could be minimised in the society. Prominent educationist Flight Lieutenant Musarrat Shah (Rtd) in her address termed the education a strong tool to eradicate crimes in the society.
