The health advisor has claimed that the experience of mobile health units providing treatment at the door-step has been successful in the province's six far-flung districts. Advisor Khawaja Salman Rafique said on Friday, "The performance of these health units is very encouraging. Besides treating up to 1,613,676 patients, laboratory tests of up to 507,482 patients have also been carried out so far."
He said the Punjab chief minister had directed to introduce the units to treat people living in remote districts and that they were purchased for Bahwalnagar, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur on experimental basis. "These are providing services successfully. Out of six districts, five relate to the South Punjab."
He also said the units were manned by male and female doctors, nurses, and equipment such as ultrasound and a pathological lab. "These units are being operated through a private firm and this firm weekly sends a performance report to the Health Department.
