A 20-member high-powered trade delegation from Vietnam led by Deputy Director Foreign Trade, Vietnam along with Vietnam Ambassador to Pakistan visited Karachi. A press release of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) said that Embassy of Vietnam in Pakistan in collaboration with TDAP organised a working group and B2B session in Karachi on August 11, 2015.
During the session Ambassador of Vietnam in Pakistan spoke on the potential of increased bilateral trade between the two nations. Secretary TDAP Rabiya Javeria Agha in her welcoming remarks stated that visit of trade delegation from Vietnam is a positive move towards enhanced connectivity and trade between Pakistan and Vietnam and this will go a long way in developing better trade links for a beneficial future of both countries.
The bilateral trade between Pakistan and Vietnam has been growing steadily over the past years. From $149 million in 2009 to $427 million in 2014. "Our major exporting products to Vietnam are frozen fish, raw cotton, pacific salmon and denim fabric while we imports synthetic yarn, black tea, natural rubber, gas turbines, natural rubber and pepper," she added.
The delegates from Vietnam represented sectors ie household appliances, electrical and mechanical appliances, agriculture machinery, baby products, tea, textile machinery, beverages, dry lead batteries. During the session B2B meetings of Vietnam's delegation were organised with their Pakistani counterparts in their respective fields. Good business deals have been materialised as a result of this visit.-PR
