Equities on Tuesday staged recovery on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) and registered gains amid descending transaction volume on account of cautious approach on the part of investors. The LSE-25 index gained 34.69 points to 6176.73 against 6142.04 of Monday while trading turnover squeezed to 3.093 million shares compared with the day earlier volume of 7.401 million shares.
The market resumed trading on a healthy note and kept on rising throughout the day as investors stayed on buying course and made entries in bluechips and ready board shares like Hascol Petroleum, Engro Corporation, Fatima Fertiliser, Engro Fertiliser, Arif Habib Corporation, Sui Southern, Sui Northern, Treet Corporation, Nishat Chunian, Fauji Cement, NIB Bank, PIA and Lotte Chemical. However, PPL, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, Trust Investment Bank, Byco Petroleum, IGI Investment Bank, K-Electric and Dewan Farooq Motors were succumbed of profit taking.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 78 active issues, 29 companies posted gains, 9 suffered losses while 40 companies stayed unchanged at their previous closing. The Hascol Petroleum gained Rs 5.95, Engro Corporation improved Rs 3.36, Arif Habib Corporation appreciated Rs 2.60 while Fatima Fertiliser and Engro Fertiliser were up by Rs 2.25 each. In the negative column, PPL lost 98 paisas while the Gul Ahmed Textile Mills was declined by 10 pasias. The NIB Bank was the market leaders whose 1.134 million shares followed by Trust Investment Bank with 404,000 shares.
