Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan may have another meeting in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September. Sources in the Indian capital said the meeting depends on the situation along the LOC and Working Boundary as both the countries are accusing each other of cease-fire violations. Since Modi and Sharif met at Ufa in Russia on July 10, sources in New Delhi are not ruling out the possibility of a second meeting between the two prime ministers this year.
They, however, added that the outcome of the series of meetings India and Pakistan had agreed upon in Ufa and the situation along the border would be assessed before taking a call on the second meeting between the two Prime Ministers. Modi is likely to travel to New York for the UNGA, though Pakistan has not yet confirmed participation of Sharif in the conclave.
Sources purportedly told Deccan Herald that the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta in November might provide yet another opportunity to the two prime ministers to hold a bilateral meeting. Modi-Sharif meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation's meeting at Ufa saw India and Pakistan agreeing to have a series of meetings between the national security advisors (NSA) to discuss all issues related to terrorism, between chiefs of BSF and Pakistan Rangers and between India's Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) and his counterpart in the neighbouring country to explore ways to avert cease-fire violations.
