A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Police School of Public Disorder and Riot Management Mardan and Preston University Kohat in a ceremony held at CPO Peshawar here on Thursday. Additional IGP Headquarters Mian Mohammad Asif and Preston University Vice Chancellor Dr Professor Mohammad Anwar Hassan signed the agreement in this regard. Preston University is the first private university in Pakistan.
There are some common interest areas between Preston University and Police School of Public Disorder and Riot Management. Both can mutually benefit by sharing their resources, experiences and expertise. Preston University can make significant contributions in the field of mob psychology and human resource management. The purpose of the MoU is to create an environment of cooperation and collaboration between Preston University and Public Disorder and Riot Management. Both the parties will work jointly for research, development and capacity building of trainee police officers and students of the Preston University.
Both parties will also work together to re-conceptualize the current approach of public disorder management into the modern technique of public disorder management. Both parties have agreed to provide the faculty members to the School of Public Disorder and Riot Management on need basis. Preston University will assess the School of Public Disorder and Riot Management in developing and updating the courses curriculum. It will share the research work of its scholars on mob psychology and human resource management with School of Public Disorder and Riot Management.
Both parties will provide resource persons for holding workshops and seminars on different subjects. The School of Public Disorder and Riot Management will accept and train the internee students of Preston University. It will assist the students of Preston University in their research project work.
Additional IGP Headquarters Mian Mohammad Asif said that various steps have been taken for the capacity building of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police as per vision of the present government which also includes the establishment of different training schools. He informed that services of different universities of the country are being achieved to further enhance and polish the activities of these schools. He said that with the collaboration of bookish knowledge of the university and practical experience of the police a mechanism will be evolved which will enhance the capacity of the force.
Vice chancellor Preston University Professor Dr Mohammad Anwar Hassan said that with the use of knowledge efforts will be made to control the crime and new values will be introduced in the police. He said that the society will be brought under discipline with the use of modern knowledge and scientific approach.
