Commissioner of Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, has ordered district officials to ensure immediate cleaning, proper lighting and provision of potable water at all the designated sites for Eid prayers in the metropolis. In his directives issued on Wednesday, he also sought similar arrangements in and around graveyards, parks and recreational sites scattered across Karachi.
These measures, he said must be adopted prior to the Eidul Fitr festival with due care for maintenance protecting citizens against any inconvenience during the ensuing holidays. Seeking foolproof security arrangements of all public places and sites where prayer congregations would be held, the Karachi Commissioner urged the authorities to ensure strict compliance of ban imposed on swimming and bathing in sea.
"Life guards and cops must be deputed, as already ordered, at all the beaches and coast line falling within the jurisdiction of each of the district." said Siddiqui. He said that since people also visit graveyards on the eve of the Eid festival so as to offer Fateha, therefore, clipping bushes and unwarranted vegetation must be undertaken for facilitation of visitors.
This, he said, must be supplemented with availability of potable water and adequate lighting. Commissioner of Karachi has also appealed to the Karachi Electric authorities to see that no load-shedding is resorted in any part of the metropolis during Eid. Proper arrangements with adequate provision for security, he reiterated must be ensured at all recreational sites of Karachi.
