Meter Testing Laboratory (M&T) of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has found 136 LT TOU (Time of Use) meters out of 912 as tampered for theft of electricity. The checking of domestic, commercial and industrial electricity meters was carried out in May 2015. The meters of consumers in Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Bannu, Abbotabad and Swat Circles were checked in Pesco M&T, out of which 136 meters were found tampered/sluggish for theft purpose.
According to the details, 912 TOU meters were checked and 136 meters were found tampered, including 30 meters out of 305 meters of Peshawar Circle were found tampered, 23 meters out of 209 of Khyber Circle were found tampered, two meters out of 170 meters of Mardan Circle were found tampered, 33 meters out of 39 meters of Bannu Circle were found tampered, four meters out of 78 meters of Hazara Circle were found tampered and 44 meters out of 101 meters of Swat Circle were found tampered for electricity theft purpose. Fine was imposed on them according to their load and tampering. A spokesman of Pesco has said that drive against illegal use of electricity is in full swing throughout the province. The persons involved in power pilferage are warned to stop this practice otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
