Prices of entire range of vegetables, beef and mutton registered increase last week as compared to the preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey observed that the butchers have increased the price of mutton by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 600 per kg to Rs 700 per kg and beef price by Rs 25 per kg from Rs 400 per kg to Rs 425 per kg. During the week under review prices of most of the vegetables have witnessed a significant increase.
Vegetable prices witnessed a sharp increase as onions registered an increase of Rs 20 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 220 per 5 kg to Rs 240 per 5 kg, and in retail market the commodity is being sold in range of Rs 50-55 per kg and potatoes prices increased by Rs 10 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 130 per 5 kg to Rs 140 per 5 kg and in retail market it is being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg. Spinach is being sold at Rs 25 per kg, tinda price increased by 10 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 60 per kg, Shimla Mirch (capsicum) price increased by Rs 30 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 80 per kg, okra price increased by Rs 30 per kg from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 60 per kg and Kareela price increased by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 50 per kg.
Cauliflower price increased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 70 per kg and cabbage price increased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 40 per kg. Peas price witnessed an increase of Rs 40 per kg from Rs 120 per kg to Rs 160 per kg, brinjal price increased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 40 per kg to Rs 50 per kg and bean price witnessed an increase of Rs 20 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 80 per kg.
Chilli price reduced by Rs 40 per kg from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 40 per kg, lemon price reduced by Rs 50 per kg from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 150 per kg. Live chicken price decreased by Rs 500 per 40 kg from Rs 6,000 per 40 kg to Rs 5,500 per 40 kg, while in retail market chicken is selling at Rs 150 per kg and chicken meat at Rs 250 per kg. During the week under review tomatoes prices in wholesales market further reduced by Rs 20 per 5 kg from Rs 240 per 5 kg to Rs 220, while in retail market the commodity is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg last week.
Ginger by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 300 per kg, garlic by Rs 50 per kg from Rs 200 per kg to Rs 250 per kg and basin price one of the highly consumed commodity in Ramadan increased by Rs 25 per kg to Rs 100 per kg. While there is no change in the prices of entire range of pulses, eggs, sugar, rice, tea packs, packed milk and fresh milk, spices, ghee, cooking oil, wheat flour and other essential commodities.
Grapes price reduced by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 300 per kg to Rs 200 per kg, watermelon prices is being sold at Rs 20 per kg, while melon on Rs 40 per kg, good quality local banana price has increased by Rs 50 per dozen from Rs 100 per dozen to Rs 150, normal quality local banana is being sold at Rs 100 per kg, Indian banana price reduced by Rs 40 per dozen from Rs 200 per dozen to Rs 160 per dozen in retail market which in wholesale market is being traded at Rs 140 per dozen. Prices of different qualities of mango have registered a reduction of up to Rs 20 per kg as good quality chonsa is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 140 per kg and Sindhari at Rs 100 against Rs 120 per kg, peach price reduced by Rs 30 per kg from Rs 150 per kg to Rs 120 per kg, cherry is available at Rs 200 per kg and lychee at Rs 220 to Rs 250 per kg in retail market.
