The third five-day workshop as part of a series of a five-week-long different indigenous on campus training (IOT) workshops for Management Cadre (BPS-16 and above) ended at Sindh University, Jamshoro, here on Friday amidst rounds of applauses and accolades by the participants.
The IOT workshops, comprising five different sessions each week from May 25 to May 29, were planned by the SU Planning & Development Cell and Quality Enhancement Cell in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) under capacity building of non-teaching staff. The topic of training this week was 'Leadership in Management' and Dr Imam Din Khoso was the focal person of this third training. As many as 35 officers of the University participated in the training workshop during all five days.
Expressing his views a participant, Ajwed Ahmed Bhatti, said, "I feel honoured after having had target oriented lectures and interaction with learned doctors. Being a professional, I have to deal with technology by considering the needs and demands of my stakeholders, however, this workshop on leadership in management has added into my managerial as well as leadership skills to get my objectives effectively and efficiently. I learnt to understand and not only to reply," he added. Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the second IOT, Advisor Planning & Development Cell Sajid Qayoom Memon said, "Whether one is student or a professional, the need of learning new trends and approaches never lose its importance. This IOT is a unique opportunity under the auspices of HEC for universities non-teaching staff and employees to refresh their knowledge and enhance their capacity and productivity as a result of this training and this all will not only improve the capacity and efficiency of the universities' employees but also help to promote good governance on campus."
Course co-ordinator & SU Director QEC Dr Shahzad said, "This IOT is designed to impart some important leadership skills that are essential for those who are working in different capacities and at different managerial levels in universities. In other words this course is intended to develop core leadership competences in participants, their personal transformation in particular and enhancement of organisation leadership capacity in general." Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Pathan distributed certificates among the participants.
