A total of 3577 laptops were distributed among the students of University of Sindh, Jamshoro, on Friday under the 'Prime Minister's Youth Programme' scheme. A ceremony to distribute laptops to deserving students was held at the university's Institute of Business Administration auditorium. The laptops were distributed among 3577 students under the supervision of focal Person of the scheme at University Dr Imamuddin Khoso and the representative of HEC. This was the 3rd phase of the laptop distribution scheme being undertaken by the university.
Addressing the ceremony, the SU's focal person for laptop distribution Dr Imamuddin Khoso congratulated the students and urged them to work hard. According to the Dr Khoso, all the students completed a form to determine whether they are eligible to receive a laptop under this scheme. He said the students filled out a form on the Higher Education Commission's (HEC) website after which the HEC emailed the university names of the students who met the criteria.
He said the university had distributed laptops among students of every faculty. "We have distributed laptops on a merit basis to the students," he said. He explained that the students who achieved high GPAs in their semester examinations were eligible to receive laptops under this scheme. Khalil Mugheri, a student of IBA at SU who received a laptop under this scheme, said he was very happy to receive the laptop with evo (an internet device). "This scheme is really good, but it must reach underprivileged students as well," he said.
