The Karachi Port handled 140,393 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,322 tonnes of import cargo and 23,071 tonnes of export cargo including 5,099 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 117,322 tonnes comprised of 45,576 tonnes of containerised cargo; 42,035 tonnes of coal and 29,711 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,071 tonnes comprised of 20,121 tonnes of containerised cargo and 2,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,099 containers comprising of 2,740 containers import and 2,359 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,135 of 20's and 737 of 40's loaded while 41 of 20's and 45 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 513 of 20's and 313 of 40's loaded containers while 410 of 20's and 405 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely SSL Gujrat, Wan Hai-172, El-Gurdabia, Al Mahboobah and BW Zambesi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Lissy Schulte, SSL Gujrat, Wan Hai-172, Stolt Endurance, Tromso, Spar Corvus, Glovis Maine and Ikan Sembak carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely APL Guangzhou and MMJ carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Hyundai Colombo, Stolt Endurance and Tromso carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were two vessels viz. AS Carelia and BBC Danube carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz. Cosco Kawasaki and Desh Rakshak carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 47,370 tonnes comprising 23,158 tonnes of import cargo and 24,212 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,664 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 23,158 tonnes includes 400 tonnes of palm oil; 3,000 tonnes of LPG; 9,793 tonnes of iron ore; 161 tonnes of general cargo and 9,804 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,212 tonnes includes 2,400 tonnes of crude oil and 21,812 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,664 containers comprising of 516 containers import and 1,148 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely CV MSC Alessia with containers sailed out sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MT Liberty N carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC Alessia, CV Maersk Kinloss, MT Alpine Light, MT Liberty N, MT Argent Eyebright, MV Motion Scan and MV Josco Jin Zhou currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, crude oil, Palm oil, LPG, general and iron ore cargo respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Rio De Plata, Bochem Chennai, MT Quetta, Al-Salam-II and Turk Gas carrying containers, phosphoric acid, furnace oil, diesel oil and LPG respectively at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Friday.
There were six vessels viz. CV Rio De Plata, CV Liwia P, CV Delmas Keta, MT Turk Gas, MT Bochem Chennai and MT Quetta carrying containers, LPG, chemical and Furnace oil expected to took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There are two ships namely CV MSC Altamira and MV Thorco Winteri carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely MT Chemroad Nova carrying edible oil is due to arrive on Sunday.
