After execution of two terrorists in Faisalabad, the Punjab Home department sources have said that another eight terrorists on death row will be executed in prison across Punjab at any time from Saturday onwards. It may be noted that Aqeel alias Dr Usman and Arshad Mahmood were sent to the gallows on Friday night at the district jail in Faisalabad.
Usman was the mastermind of the 10 October 2009 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) while Mahmood was involved in the attack on former president General Pervez Musharraf (retd).
The follow up executions will be carried out at the Kot Lakpat, Adiala and Bahawalpur jails, sources added.
The moratorium on the death penalty in terrorism cases was lifted in Pakistan following the brutal Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) orchestrated attack at the Army Public School in Peshawar that killed 149 people mostly children.
