The Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), University of Peshawar, in collaboration with Department of Home and Tribal Affairs organized a day-long seminar on "Engaging Youth in De-Radicalization of FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" at Teaching Community Centre, University of Peshawar the university camp.
Mutahir Zeb, Additional Secretary Home & Tribal Affairs was addressing the seminar as chief guest reiterated that government is committed to work in close collaboration with civil society and academia for sincere efforts to produce indigenous research addressing our problems with our own solutions. He pledged that Department of Home and Tribal Affairs, government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has introduced various projects to address the issue of radicalisation in our society and is open to not only welcome but facilitate innovative ideas especially from University of Peshawar Academia and researchers to address our national challenges.
Others partners of the seminar, included the Department of Sociology, Department of Psychology, Department of Social Work, University of Peshawar and Research Library, established in private sector a CSP Police officer known for his welfare and research more than his civil service.
Dr Jamil Ahmad Chitrali the Director of IPCS said that the Institute has devised plan to train mid-career professionals and young graduates of the country for Peace Building, Social Cohesion enriched with the appropriate skills to address conflicts by peaceful means.
Professor Dr Adnan Sarwar Khan, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Peshawar in his speech praised the contributions of IPCS in its short span of life and shared that the university and society at large has much more expectations from young leadership. He shared that the Institute will soon become center of excellence in research providing policy guidelines for politicians and establishment. He as patron of the forum welcomed all the participants and appreciated their role in creating awareness among people on the issue of Radicalisation in Pakistan which he claimed is a major hurdle in progress of the nation.
