Rejecting the plea of former President General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) who sought an exemption from court's appearance, the Additional Sessions Judge (ADSJ) of Islamabad court on Saturday summoned Musharraf to appear before the court on December 13 in the Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case. The ADSJ, Wajid Ali, heard the Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case against the former president and ordered that Musharraf should appear before the court on the next date of hearing.
During the course of proceedings, Akhtar Shah, the Counsel for Musharraf, submitted three applications - exemption from court appearance; his client may not be summoned to proceedings of the said matter because his name is in the column two of the FIR of the case; and questions over the jurisdiction of Additional and Sessions Court with regard to the Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case.
The court while rejecting the exemption plea summoned Musharraf on December 13 and said that it would decide the remaining two applications on the next date of hearing. The court also sought a reply from Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad regarding provision of adequate security in the court premises to Musharraf on December 13.
