The democracy and its unhindered journey in AJ&K, since 1985, has not only fortified the institutions but also enhanced the pace of development and prosperity of the state. All elected government put their efforts to perk up the living standards of the people of the state however, the current PPP government is only one of its kind which under enthusiastic leadership of Premier Chaudry Abdul Majeed laboured day and night for the prosperity of the state. His political profoundness, visionary approach, political wisdom and humble nature enabled him to be accredited with sole position of a statesman who can uplift his nation through development which state has never witnessed in past. Not only he devoted himself for the development of the AJ&K but he was not oblivious of his prime responsibility of dedicate his life time struggle for the independence of Kashmir from Indian occupation.
All Parties Conference on Kashmir issue reflects his approach to unite all political forces on one point agenda irrespective of their political and ideological differences. It was an obvious and significant message to India that no matter what and how circumstances shape and get shaped, the people and the political parties are united against Indian oppression. Not only to India but this act also sent a reminder to the United Nations and the international community that no durable peace can be guaranteed in Nuclear South Asia. First time in the history of AJ&K, the Prime Minister AJ&K invited ambassadors and high commissioners of all the countries appointed in Islamabad and briefed them of the real situation of Kashmir issue and sufferings of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir. Chaudry Abdul Majeed reiterated the stance of Kashmiris that right to self determination, in accordance with UN resolutions, cannot be compromised at any cost. The diplomatic efforts of his government and rich tribute to martyrs of Kashmir freedom struggle as well as of Pakistan Army were hailed by the masses, intellectuals and national and international media.
As for as the development of the state is concerned, the Majeed government in AJ&K, set off several mega projects and ensured their timely completion. It proved that PPP government fulfils the promises it makes with the people during elections. AJ&K government established three medical colleges in the state which substantiates that PPP government believes in promoting the professional growth of the youth. It was not an easy task to construct buildings, provide faculty and commence classes in such a short time period. The Prime Minister himself took up the challenge and did what others have been only dreaming for. This shows his commitment and dedication for the provision of health infrastructure and facilities to the people. Another mega project with the cost of 344 million rupee was started for community development. AJ&K Community Development Program (AJKCDP) aimed at improving the agriculture, animal husbandry, forests, social welfare & women development, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), Micro Hydal Power, environmental protection, education, Local Government and Rural development sectors.
Trade and Industrial development was another task his government focused on. In three years, six industrial estates have been established and around 13500 million rupee investment has been ensured so far which generated employment opportunities for 17000 people. Under TEVTA Scheme, 82 skill development centers were established which benefited thousands of unskilled workers along with the scholarship of Rs 2000/ month per individual. Information Technology sector has been given special consideration and brought revolution in AJ&K. It literacy was made mandatory for every student and employee. IT training for all employees and e-governance were made sure. Almost all the public departments and data were computerised including AJK land records, AIMS hospital, Judiciary from Supreme Court to lower courts, AJ&K police.
Keeping in view the rampant energy crises in Pakistan, AJ&K government took astonishing measures to combat with state of affairs. Pitrand Hydal Project, Dawarian Hydal Project, Nagdar Hydal Project, Shonter Hydal Project, Jagraan (phase II) Hydal Project, Sharda Hydal Project, Rera Hydal Project, Betarr Hydal Project, Hillan Hydal Project and Dhanna Hydal Project are the evidence of government's ardor to contribute in diminishing the national crises. Transport & Communication includes 53 mega schemes of construction, up gradation and reconditioning of road infrastructure apart from Kohala-Muzaffarabad Express Way. To actualise the dream of converting AJ&K to an education city, AJ&K Premier emphasised on construction of new buildings and improvement of the already existing ones. 1206 new institutions were established and many other schools and colleges were upgraded. The establishment of Poonch University Rawalakot, Women University Bagh, IT University Kotli First Islamic University in Mirpur and AJ&K University campus in Neelum are the hallmark realisations of the current government's commitment for an Education City. Women empowerment and bringing them into mainstream became one of the prime objectives of the government. First time in the history of AJ&K, the government established Social Welfare Complexes and Women Development Centers across the state.
The government of Pakistan also extended enormous support to AJ&K government and allocated 60 billion rupee for AJ&K's development. With utilisation of 20 billion released already, the government of AJK has completed 5000 projects. Construction of Khursheed Hassan Library, Shopping plazas, Muzaffarabad officers club, Airport road, Ring road Bagh, Water supply Bagh, Bus terminal Rawalakot, roads inside cities and higher schools are the some of the significant projects completed within very short time period. Naluchi Bridge Muzaffarabad, only one of its kinds, and RCC bridge to connect the two sides of Neelum river near Saheli Sarkar Shrine were also completed within shortest possible time and credit goes to none else but AJ&K Prime Minister Chaudry Abdul Majeed and his government. The government also completed 530 other projects within one year under reconstruction phase.
Free and independent media has been one the top priorities of the government. To maintain the freedom of expression and strengthen the print and electronic media, the government took substantial measures. On the directions of Prime Minister AJK, the minister for information Syed Bazil Ali Naqvi revolutionised the department of Public Relations. To aware the people of the on-going development on Kashmir issue as well as the developmental activities in AJ&K, government enhanced the capacity of the department.
All the press clubs in AJ&K were streamlined for better co-ordination and journalists were provided with equal opportunities. For the welfare of the journalists grant for AJ&K Press Foundation was enhanced by the government. Group insurance for journalists was made possible for the first time in history. The Prime Minister adopted progressive steps in this connection to provide journalist better working environment in AJ&K. The Prime Minister AJ&K Chaudry Abdul Majeed and his government has shown excellent performance in last three years not only on interior but also on exterior fronts. By the time this government completes its tenure of five years, AJ&K would present entirely a different view of the state. All schools of thought irrespective of their affiliations have lauded the efforts of AJ&K premier for outstanding governance, diplomacy and deliverance during these past years.
