Naveed Akram Cheema, Federal Secretary Housing and Planning, has been appointed on Saturday as new Punjab Chief Secretary. The seat of Punjab Chief Secretary has become vacant after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the appointment of Javed Aslam as his new Principal Secretary.
Cheema is a BS-22 DMG officer and belongs to 8th common. He is, currently, serving as Federal Housing Secretary. In the past, he has served on key slots of Punjab Forest Secretary and Punjab Excise and Taxation Secretary.
He has also served as Director in Trade Development Authority Pakistan and Manager of Pakistan Cricket Team. According to sources, during his tenure as Secretary Forest in Punjab, he developed differences with the then Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Mahmood and hence he was transferred to Islamabad and he remained there till today.
