Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Nawaz Sharif has expressed his firm resolve to bring economic prosperity in the country by focusing on revival of ailing national economy, if voted to power. He said this while addressing the meeting of the PML-N parliamentary board and talking to new entrants in the PML-N here Wednesday.
The former federal education minister in Musharraf's era Zubaida Jalal, former Sindh Minister Irfan Magsi and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister Qazi Asad met the PML-N President and announced to join the PML-N, reposing full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to them, Nawaz said the PML-N is waging a just struggle for the betterment of the country; however, the countrymen would have to make joint efforts for beautifying homeland. "I am not fond of power, I only want to see my country progressing and my people prosper," he said. Nawaz held dictators and bad governance responsible for the deteriorating socio-economic conditions of the masses.
Addressing the meeting of PML-N parliamentary board, Nawaz said the PML-N would award tickets for general elections 2013 only on merit. He urged countrymen to use their right of vote and elect honest and true Pakistanis as their elected representatives. The PML-N, if voted to power, will secure the country from internal and external threats and spread light of education.
Nawaz further said that elected government for the first time completed its tenure in power without support of any institution and now Pakistanis have an opportunity to elect their representatives. "Democracy provides solution to problems and lead the countries to road to progress and prosperity, he said, adding: "Creating hurdles in democracy is a sin," he said.
Moreover, sources told Business Recorder that the PML-N parliamentary board decided to give tickets to Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz for contesting National Assembly seat elections from Lahore. In Lahore, the PML-N decided to bring new faces in election 2013 particularly those activists who suffered during Musharraf's regime, the sources added.
