PESHAWAR: Entrance test for admission to academic programmes of the 2022-23 sessions of the public and private sector engineering universities and colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was given simultaneously on Sunday in Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Swat, Malakand, Kohat, and D.I. Khan.

The test was conducted by the Educational Testing and Evaluating Agency (ETEA) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Around 6,880 candidates from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — including the erstwhile FATA — Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan took the test. A total of 572 candidates were young women.

The result of the test will be announced on 22nd August, 2022 (Monday) and will be available on the ETEA’s website (www.etea.edu.pk).

Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar, Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain visited the testing centre in Peshawar. He praised the arrangements made by the ETEA for smooth conduct of the test.

In a statement, he also thanked the provincial Higher Education Department under the leadership of Minister Kamran Bangash for reducing the registration fee for the test from Rs 2500 to Rs 500.

He also said that reforms in the entrance test were introduced by reducing the number of MCQs from 200 to 100, to be attempted within two hours, and by doing away with negative marking for wrong answers.

For his part, Executive Director of ETEA Yasir Imran said his organisation followed the government’s instructions for conducting the test across the province.
