KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 327,813 tonnes of cargo comprising 234,222 tonnes of import cargo and 93,591 tonnes of export cargo during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargos of 234,222 tonnes comprised of 110,507 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,895 tonnes of soy bean seed; 1,017 tonnes of sugar; 15,247 tonnes of wheat; 81,650 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo and 11,012 tonnes of bulk cargo.

The total export cargos of 93,591 tonnes comprised of 59,376 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,148 tonnes of barite lumps and 250 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 7,909 containers comprising of 4,348 containers of import and 3,561 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 738 of 20’s and 1,744 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 61 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 755 of 20’s and 945 of 40’s loaded containers while 152 of 20’s and 381 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were twelve vessels LPG/C Gas Yodla, Ital Lirica, SCF Lirica, AS Roberta, DM Conder, Red Ruby, Berlin Express Teera Bhum, M.T Lahore, Merry Star, Illovo River and KMTC Colombo carrying containers, tankers and sugar currently at the berths.

There were nine ships namely Shiling, SC Hong Kong, AS Roberta, Nakhal Silver, Yasa Aysen, Al Salam, Independent Spirit, DM Condor and Berlin Express sailed out to sea during the reported period.
