KARACHI: A Ranger official was killed, while ten including 2 paramilitary troops and a policeman injured due to explosion of a planted bomb near a Rangers mobile in Orangi Town No-5 on Monday, police said.

The initial police investigation suggests that the bomb might have been planted in a motorcycle and was detonated through remote control by unidentified men. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said the bomb was weighing around 4 kgs of explosive material.

Police said the blast occurred near a Rangers mobile. Following the blast, law enforcement agencies reached the site, cordoned off the area and moved the victims to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).

The deceased was identified as Roshan Ali son of Khan Muhammad and the injured paramilitary troops are Muhammad Hanif son of Khushi Muhammad, and Ejaz Ali son of Kambu.

Head Constable Yousaf son of Younus currently posted at AVLC also sustained injuries.

The civilian injured were among Qasim, Mehboob, Nasir Hussain, Samar, Waqas, Muhammad Irfan, and Akbar Ali.

IG Sindh has immediately called for a report from SSP West on the incident.

CTD DIG Omar Shahid Hamid, revealed that the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the blast on the paramilitary force personnel through their social media account.

Inspector General of Police Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar took notice of the "terror attack on Rangers mobile" on a main road and sought a detailed report from the SSP West, a police spokesperson said.
