KARACHI: On Monday, Pakistan Rupee fell against USD in both interbank and open markets. It however, gained value against Euro in open market. In global markets, European shares went down in face of a new coronavirus strain in UK as investors across the globe started to move towards safe haven assets as uncertainty regarding new Covid-19 strain grew.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee went down by 60 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 160.65 and 160.75 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR went down by 30 paisas for both buying and 50 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 160.40 and 160.80 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained one rupee for both buying and selling closing at 193 and 194.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR lost 20 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 43.60 and 43.80 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR lost 15 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 42.50 and 42.65 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained under pressure and declined by 15-paisa on buying side and 20-paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Monday.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading on a healthy note and registered fresh gain following buyers' interest. At close of trading the dollar ended higher at Rs 160.40 and Rs 161.40 on buying and selling side against the last week closing of Rs 160.25 and Rs 161.20, respectively.

On the contrary, amid low trading activity, the rupee stayed recovery against the pound sterling that was traded at Rs 211.00 and Rs 213.00 on buying and selling counter as compared to previous closing of Rs 214.00 and Rs 216.00, respectively, the dealers said.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 40 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.

The dollar opened at Rs160.90(buying) and Rs 161(selling) against last rate of Rs160.50(buying) and Rs 160.60(selling).

It closed at Rs160.90(buying) and Rs 161(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs. 113,150(selling) and Rs113,000(buying) at the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
