Maulana Adil's funeral held under strict security; PM, COAS term incident an attack on nation's peace

(Karachi) Prominant religious scholar Maulana Adil's funeral was held in Karachi which was participated by a large number of people, including Ulema and madrassah students, media reported on Sunday.
Maulana Adil Khan and his driver were shot dead on Saturday in Karachi's Shah Faisal area. Investigators said that it was a target killing incident and those behind it wanted to disrupt peace and incite sectarian violence in the country.

As per details, strict security arrangements were made during the funeral prayers of the slain religious scholar. The funeral was held at Jamia Farooqia, Phase 2, Hub River Road. The funeral was attended by renowned religious intellects, including Maulana Taqi Usmani, Maulana Rafi Usmani, Aurangzeb Farooqi and others.
The slain scholar was laid to rest in Jamia Farooqia.
PM, COAS condemn incident
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff general Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed condolence over the killing of the religious scholar. They said that the attack on Maulana Adil was an attack on the nation's peace and security.
They stated that Maulana Adil's martyrdom is an irreparable loss to the world of Islam.

The incident
The police officials said that the scholar was sitting in a Toyota Vigo, with the vehicle parked outside Shama shopping centre when suspects on motorcycles approached and opened fire on him.
They said that a third person, Umair, was also accompanying Maulana Adil and survived the incident. He had gone inside the shopping centre to buy mithai (sweet meats). They stated that Maulana Adil was being followed by terrorists and five spent 9mm casings were recovered from the site.
