Veteran actor Mirza Shahi dies following Covid-19 diagnosis

Veteran film and TV actor Mirza Shahi passed away in Karachi's Civil Hospital on Tuesday due to cardiac arrest a week after being diagnosed with Covid-19. He was 70.
The Nadaaniyan actor was on a ventilator for nearly a week after his condition deteriorated following his diagnosis, according to co-star Nida Yasir, who had earlier asked fans to pray for his health and recovery.
Shahi's fans and colleagues, including Shaan, Faysal Qureshi, Adnan Siddiqui and others, expressed their grief at his demise.
Shahi began his acting career in the mid-1960s in East Pakistan and appeared in films such as Aakhri Station, Is Dharti Per, Chakori and Chaand Aur Chandni. Following Bangladesh's independence in 1971, Shahi moved to Karachi and joined the film industry after settling down in the city, starring in TV plays and comedy shows.
Shahi had a major role in Shoaib Mansoor’s Fifty Fifty, which was also his most well-known work. More recently, he starred in Bazian and Nadaaniyaan’.
