KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 187,782 tonnes of cargo comprising 154,264 tonnes of import cargo and 33,518 tonnes of export cargo including 5,041 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 154,264 tonnes comprised of 66,714 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,105 tonnes of bulk cargo; 18,970 tonnes of DAP; 33,442 tonnes of wheat; 3,003 tonnes of chemical and 31,030 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 33,518 tonnes comprised of 33,318 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 5,041 containers comprising of 2,650 containers import and 2,391 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,109 of 20's and 734 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 36 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 497 of 20's and 256 of 40's loaded containers while 502 of 20's and 440 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Saxonia, Northern Dexterity, AL Rumeila, MT Karachi; Green Belt, STI Bosphorus and Stellar Hudson carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, mogas and talcum powder respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were ten vessels viz. Cosco Aden, Cosco Rotterdam, AL Rumeila, Diyala, KSL Ruiyang, Thor Sky, FPMC-29, AL-Soor-II, Al Mahboobah and Green Belt carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely AL-Soor-II carrying gasoline expected to sail on Monday. There are four vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, Hyundai Goodwill, AS Sophia and CMA CGM Racine carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while seven vessels viz. YM Cosmos, Hong Kong Express, DS Cougar, Mohar, Rowan-3, Pacific Talent and Xin Xiang Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, cement and clinker respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 203,823 tonnes comprising 159,541 tonnes of import cargo and 44,282 tonnes of export cargo including 2,690 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 159,541 tonnes tonnes includes 61,830 tonnes of coal; 16,500 tonnes of palm oil; 47,900 tonnes of gas oil; 10,016 tonnes of chemical; 13,893 tonnes of steel coil; 928 tonnes of LPG and 8,474 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 44,282 tonnes includes 1,646 tonnes of cement and 42,636 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,690 containers comprising of 446 containers import and 2,244 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely Maersk Bogor, Great Pioneer and Bochem Singapore carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while five more ships namely MOL Grandeur, Dato Success, Yangze Venus, Aponia and Torm Atlantic carrying containers, steel coil, cement, gasoline and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, cement, LPG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. Conti Contesia, Sea Rider, Kmarin Bosan, Sea Bravery, Banglar Ag Radoot, Gas Zous, Gas Amazon, Nord Venus, Leader, Adamas-1, Victory, MT Shalamar, Melody, Anligani and Nord Harmony carrying containers, coal, cement, veg oil, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, furnace oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. Hyundai Mercury, Conti Conlesia, Sea Bravery, Tiger Winter, Gas Zeus, Adamas-1 and Nord Harmony carrying containers, general cargo, cement, chemical, gas oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are two ships namely Hyundai Mercury and Tiger Winter carrying containers and chemical due to arrive on Monday while another ship namely APL New York carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
