PM Imran declared "Man of the Year" by Jordanian institute

  • The report also contains names of religious scholars Mufti Taqi Usmani and Tariq Jameel among most influential people

(Karachi) Jordan’s Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre has named Prime Minister Imran Khan as its "Man of the Year" in its recent list of the most persuasive Muslims in the world. US Congresswoman Rashida Talib has been declared ‘Woman of the Year’.

The report is issued annually in cooperation with Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University in the United States.

Nominations are evaluated on the basis of the influence that particular Muslims have had within the Muslim community and the manner in which their influence has benefited the Muslim community, both within the Islamic world and in terms of representing Islam to non-Muslims.

Appreciating the PM's efforts for peace, the report stated: “This is Imran Khan’s great dilemma—how do you make a much desired lasting peace with a nation governed by those who have neither interest nor need to make a lasting peace with Pakistan, and against whom any form of war would be hopeless. The answer would seem that Imran Khan’s efforts must now focus on mobilizing global opinion, to turn an RSS-led India a global pariah. With his impressive column in the New York Times and the sudden burst of public activity by some of Imran Khan’s touring ministers and ambassadors in America, Europe and perhaps in Asia, that appears to be now underway.”

The report also contains names of religious scholars Mufti Taqi Usmani and Tariq Jameel among most influential people.

Imran assumed the office of prime minister in 2018 after devoting 22 years of his life to building an opposition political party that was committed to reform and confronting civilian political establishment over the issue of embedded corruption and mismanagement.

The international community praised Imran's vision and his stance on Kashmir and bringing stability in the region.
