KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 77,025 tonnes of cargo comprising 50,288 tonnes of import cargo and 26,737 tonnes of export cargo including 4,866 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 50,288 tonnes comprised of 18,538 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,844 tonnes of general cargo; 3,866 tonnes of bulk cargo; and 24,040 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 26,737 tonnes comprised of 21,637 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,100 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 4,866 containers comprising of 2,042 containers of import and 2,824 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 811 of 20's and 466 of 40's loaded while 63 of 20's and 118 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 723 of 20's and 252 of 40's loaded containers while 781 of 20's and 408 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Kapitan Masloy, Hyundai Platinum, Bellatrix-1, MT Lahore, Atlantik Pride, Ginga Tiger, Chembulk Yokohama, Lila Mumbai and Cygnux carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 223,429 tonnes comprising of 188,336 tonnes of import cargo and 35,093 tonnes of export cargo including 2,971 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 188,336 tonnes includes 78,298 tonnes of LNG; 37,295 tonnes of coal; 10,000 tonnes of palm oil; 40,876 tonnes of mogas; 1,500 tonnes of canola; 1,011 tonnes of LPG and 21,356 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,093 tonnes includes 35,093 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,971 containers comprising of 1,124 containers import and 1,847 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely Jappesen Maersk and MSC Lusia carrying containers respectively sail out to sea on Monday morning, while four more ships namely Apreadee Naree, White Purl, Al Maruna and Navig-8 Gallantry carrying coal, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, canola, LPG, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. SBI Achilles, African Baza, Kamari, Gas Zeus, Tomson Gas, Sovereign, Al-Soor-II, Four Sky and Torm Helnig carrying coal, cement, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MSC Jeanne, MSC Esthi, Da Hong Xia, SBI Achilles, Chemroad Sakura and Torm Helnig carrying containers, general cargo, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were two ships namely MSC Esthi and Da Hong Xia carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while two more ships namely MSC Tomoko and Maersk Sentosa carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
