Fifteen persons, including four policemen killed and 32 other injured in a suicide explosion on Railway Road in Hangu, said hospital sources. According to District Co-ordination Officer (DCO), Omar Saddique said that the terrorists rammed an explosive laden vehicle with the police mobile van near Police Check-Post on Railway Road.
The bomb disposal squad has said that 600kg explosive was used in the explosion and it was so powerful that the windowpanes of the nearby houses were broken and 15 houses were severely damaged. The injured were rushed to district headquarters and other hospitals. Three injured were stated to be critical. After the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area.
Meanwhile, Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has strongly condemned the suicide attack at Aliabad in Hangu on Thursday and expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the loss of precious lives. The governor has described the incident, a worst inhuman and cowardly act of terrorism, which, he said, is really shocking.
Expressing his deep sympathies with bereaved families, the governor has said that it has indeed severely hurt every citizen and no doubt is intolerable as well. He has also appealed to the people to fully cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to bring the elements involved in such inhuman activities to justice. He has also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with patience. He has also wished early recovery for the injured.
