President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Zulqarnain Haider on Thursday said that stakeholders should join hands to ensure a friendly environment for the orphan children as it is our mutual responsibility to take care of them. During a visit to Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal, he lauded the initiative of providing shelter to the children affected by war on terror, adding that the country is in a state of war and everyone should render their services in this critical situation.
He said, "I was interested in the Sweet Home Pakistan Project and today, after witnessing its working and atmosphere, I can surely say future of these children are in safe hands and they will be a productive part of the society". Haider observed that in the current circumstances, anyone could be a victim of terrorism and appealed the nation to donate generously for them (orphans) and treat them like they treat their own children. He offered full co-operation for the projects of the Bait-ul-Maal, and urged it to develop such homes in AJK. "In the AJK, number of orphans has increased to an alarming level after the earthquake and these children are facing hardship due to lack of resources". He also requested capacity building for AJK uplift projects running with the co-operation of the overseas Pakistanis.
