Aaqib Javed, Pakistan former fast bowler has come out in support of Sharjeel Khan, the opener accused of fixing in the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Javed appeared before the tribunal to give his opinion on the two dot balls played by Sharjeel while playing for Islamabad United against Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2, said that the PCB was unable to provide any evidence against Sharjeel Khan in the hearing.

"The background story they told me is convincing but they didn't show me the evidence," Aaqib Javed told media after the hearing, quoted ESPNcricinfo.

Javed, who was part of Pakistan 1992 World Cup winning squad, said that playing dot balls is part of the game.

"Playing a dot ball isn't a crime, every player plays them. It's a part of the game. The story they explained to me after that makes you believe that this is exactly how spot-fixing can be committed.”

"In T20 cricket there is no good or bad ball. So those dot balls were only doubtful if you see them keeping in view the story and background narrated [by the PCB's counsel]. But if there is no story behind all this then nobody in the world can prove that a batsman could have scored on any specific ball."

It is pertinent to inform prior Javed, Islamabad United coach Dean Jones and former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Yousuf has spoken in favor of Sharjeel.
