The federal government on Friday made the second major reshuffle in top level bureaucracy by transferring/posting half dozen secretaries including the Finance Secretary, besides promoting 28 officials of grade 21 to 22. Establishment Division formally issued the notification for the new appointments/postings and promotions.
Major reshuffle was of Furrukh Qayyum who was appointed as Finance Secretary. Qayyum was previously serving as Petroleum Secretary. He replaced Waqar Masood Khan who again was appointed as the Secretary Economic Affairs Division (EAD). Before taking the job as Finance Secretary a few months back, Waqar Masood was holding the office of the Secretary EAD.
Zafar Iqbal who was serving as Secretary Textile has been appointed as Secretary Petroleum. Secretary Housing and Works Abdul Rauf has been appointed as Secretary Textile Division. M Ashraf who was serving as Additional Secretary Ministry of Commerce has been promoted to grade 22 and appointed as Secretary Sports Division.
Nayyar Aga has been promoted to grade 22 and appointed as Secretary Population Welfare. M Aziz Khan who was previously serving in NWFP has been promoted to grade 22 and appointed as Secretary Human Rights Division.
Secretary Population M Sharif has been appointed as Secretary States and Frontier Region (Safran). Secretary Local Government and Rural Development, Saleem Khan was appointed as Secretary Ports and Shipping. Additional Secretary Population Welfare Mrs Sarwar Lashari was promoted to grade 22 and appointed as Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination Division.
M Kashif was promoted to grade 22 and appointed as Secretary Railways and Additional Secretary Sami ul Haq was promoted to grade 22 and appointed as Housing and Works Secretary. Ali Arif was also promoted in grade 22 and appointed as Special Secretary Prime Minister Secretariat. Asharf Hayat was promoted and appointed as Secretary Minority Affairs.
The coalition government of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had made the first reshuffle in bureaucracy soon after taking over and replaced a number of officials of grade 22 and 21.
Inspector General Police NWFP, Malik Naveed Khan, IG Punjab Police, Shaukat Javed,, IG Balochistan Saud Gohar, Shaikh Gazanfar Hussain, Badarus Islam and Federal Land Commission Mirza Karim Baig have been promoted from grade 21 to grade 22. S Anwar Haider was also promoted from grade 21 to grade 22. His services will remain with the government of Sindh.
