The project review meeting of Higher Education Commission (HEC) funded developmental projects was held here on Monday to monitor the projects' performance, based on monitoring progress report of HEC in the university.
The Vice Chancellor UET Engr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani chaired the meeting. The project directors of respective projects briefed the vice chancellor about the progress details. The total project portfolio is Rs 2.2 billion, which includes developmental and rehabilitation projects.
The vice chancellor expressed his satisfaction over the pace of ongoing civil work. He however directed to hold regular meetings to monitor the progress. Regarding the project titled "National Institute of Urban Infrastructure", which costs Rs 174 million, it was told that five faculty members have been sent abroad to pursue their PhDs while all the civil work is going as per schedule.
About the "Continuing Engineering Education Center", costing Rs 2.5 million, the VC directed to immediately speed up the civil work in order to meet the deadlines. This project is part of five centers being established in other cities.
Giving details regarding the project "Strengthening of Satellite Campuses", the Project Director M. Sarwar Khan informed that HEC has placed the project at satisfactory level. He said 19 scholars have been sent abroad for their PhDs programme under its HRD component.
Regarding the project of "Institute of Mechatronics Engineering" costing Rs 147 million the Project Director, Professor Dr Irfanullah informed that most of the laboratory equipment has been purchased while six scholars have been sent abroad to pursue PhD programmes.-PR
