Sindh Ombudsman K. Yousuf Jamal has settled a longstanding but legitimate claims of the retired low-paid employees. The Sindh Ombudsman, through a decision on June 30, announced payment of pensions to five retired officials of the local government field units in Mirpurkhas, thus settling prolong but legitimate claims of low-paid employees.
The Sindh Ombudsman, during preceding quarter (April-June), disposed of 376 public complaints against various government departments. During the period under review, the Ombudsman's Secretariat provided specific relief to 184 petitioners, whereas 194 complaints could not be substantiated.
The maximum number of complaints pertained to education, health, revenue, police, local government and irrigation departments.
Quite a few grievances of miscellaneous nature were redressed promptly u/s 33 of the Ombudsman's Establishment Act, which provides the Ombudsman with a speedy channel for both informal resolution of disputes and provision of speedy relief to the aggrieved. The Sindh Ombudsman has also decided to open, during current financial additional regional offices in Karachi East, Dadu and Badin.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan had approved the proposal for a meaningful increase in the number of field offices at a presentation made by Yousuf Jamal in November, 2004.
