Alliance for Restoration of Democracy's (ARD) Lawyers Co-ordination Committee Co-ordinator Manzoor Ali Gillani said that 'Charter of Democracy' signed by Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif would go a long way towards ensuring empowerment of people of Pakistan.
While addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Gillani said the ARD had established lawyers' wing in recognition of struggle of the lawyers for the rule of law, strengthening democracy and revival of Constitution of Pakistan. He said the committee in its meeting had decided to organise lawyers' wings at provincial and district levels.
He said the committee had also authorised him to appoint co-ordinators at provincial levels in consultation with the ARD leaders. The provincial co-ordinators would appoint district co-ordinators.
He said that current situation, being faced by the country, demand the return of exiled leaders. He called upon the government to release all the political workers and withdraw all the cases registered against them.
