Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Local Government and Rural Development Muhammad Basharat Raja has reiterated the resolve of his government to turn Punjab into a literate Punjab. He added government would provide Rs 150 million to every district for promotion of education, and provision of better facilities in institutions.
"In last fiscal year, Government provided Rs 150 million to districts for fulfilment of the commitment of "Literate Punjab" made by chief minister. This would continue in current year to increase the enrolment in schools", the minister said while addressing the Award ceremony of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi (BISER) here on Saturday.
He announced that government has planned to upgrade all Middle Schools of province to high standard and provide all modern facilities there. "We believe in modern and skill oriented education which would give better results and guide country towards right direction.
He impressed upon teachers to make sure they discharged national duty with complete dedication. Government was firm to enhance educational standards all over province and needed co-operation from educationists in that regard.
He assured full support of the provincial government in construction of building for Rawalpindi Board saying the foundation stone was laid months back while the work was not started till this date. He asked the board authorities to start the construction work under revised estimate and his government would provide sufficient funds.
