Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has floated a tender for import of 75,000 metric tons (MT) urea in bulk from international sources to meet domestic requirement. A TCP official said here on Friday that bidding for the tender would be held on August 29. This would be open tender and successful parties could supply urea of any origin, he added.
It may be noted the economic co-ordination council (ECC) had instructed TCP to import 250,000 metric tons of urea to ensure availability of sufficient quantity of urea for growers during forthcoming season in the country at reasonable prices. TCP had already procured 238,000 MT of urea last year to meet growers' requirements for the current season.
