JUI leader Fazl-ur-Rehman said here on Saturday, "We have no linkage with al Qaeda, or any other terrorist organisation, nor we are extremists, but we are enlightened and progressive, while General Pervez Musharraf is a reactionary and he is not enlightened. However, such rumours are being spread by secret agencies under a well planned plot."
Addressing a press conference here, he said, "If foreigners are a threat to the country's integrity, solidarity and security then all foreigners should be expelled from Pakistan, whether they are studying in universities, technical institutes, or religious seminaries, or serving in multinational companies."
He said that there was no justification to oust those students who came to Pakistan on valid visa for study. He asked under what law they are being expelled from the country.
He said that religious seminaries are neither extremists nor are involved in any unlawful activity. They are producing true Muslims who love humanity irrespective of creed or colour.
He said: "How can we celebrate Independence Day on August 14 when our air bases are under the control or United States and our nuclear programme is being monitored by it?"
Fazl asked the rulers to explain why they sold out the nuclear programme and why they nabbed Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, who is buyer of this programme. "How much did he pay for it?"
HASBA BILL: He said that Judges of Supreme Court did not take oath under the 1973 constitution and they are serving under LFO. "How can they declare Hasba bill repugnant to the constitution?" He asked why these Judges did not take notice of General Pervez Musharraf's excess who approved the law for possessing dual office while it was against the constitution. "This question will remain intact for the Judiciary for ever. Why did it not take action against unlawful activities of General Pervez Musharraf?"
He said that Hasba bill had no legal position unless the governor signed it and mere bill cannot be challenged nor sent to court for reference.
He declined to comment on Dubai incident and said that if he opened the pandora box then diplomatic ties between Pakistan and United Arab Emirates could become bitter.
He alleged that Judiciary was being exploited for political motives. He bitterly criticised the government for using state machinery, state controlled electronic media in local bodies elections, and President General Pervez Musharraf was making speeches against religious forces and launching election campaign for his own created party candidates.
He said that Chief Election Commission should take notice of these violations.
