National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) has become one of the top fifty e-passport technology supplier companies of the world, the authority officials said on Wednesday. Nadra has achieved the status of fastest growing IT organisation by virtue of adopting modern technology and managed to find significant place among top 50 e-passport technology supplier companies of the world.
There are 32 companies from Europe, 11 from USA, 4 from UK, one from Japan and 2 from Asia out of which one is from Pakistan. Nadra is also one of the 13 system integrators of passport technology in the world. This was mentioned by one of the leading IT magazine entitled 'ID World'.
The sources said that Pakistan should be proud of its fastest growing and technologically most modern IT organisation and the fact that it has been included in the top 50 e-passport technology suppliers of the world is another feather in Nadra's cap.
In the top 50 suppliers of e-passport technology, the most promising technology providers to which the governments and state printers can turn today for their needs in the area of less contact MRTDs are given prominence.
Nadra was created on March 10, 2000 by merging the National Database Organisation and the Directorate General of Registration. It is working on compiling the database of the nation, issuing computerised national identity cards (CNICs), identity cards for overseas Pakistanis, Pakistan Origin Cards, birth certificates, children registration certificates, automated finger identification system and machine-readable passports.
