Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday stressed upon government officials to set their professional approach in line with directions showed by President Pervez Musharraf for upgrading Pakistan's status from comity of developing countries to a full fledged developed country. He said President Musharraf had brought Pakistan at helm of Muslim countries where it was effectively negotiating disputes with West.
"We can't always remain as a developing nation, we have to upgrade our status to a developed Pakistan", he said after inaugurating Pifra Data Center at Accountant General Sindh's office.
He said government departments and officials had to realise their responsibility in trickling down the benefits of present economic revival and development achieved by federal government.
Sustainable governance depends on various legs of government machinery and AG Sindh had a pivotal role to play in this regard, he added.
Ishratul Ibad expressed government's unflinching commitment for strengthening the role of government employees coupled with provision of needed facilities, which he said would enhance their performance and credibility.
"This will in turn also make accountability justifiable", he said and announced an additional one-month salary for staff of the AG Sindh office.
He assured issue of residential facilities to AG officials in districts would be resolved and vehicles needed by the staff would be provided.
"It is necessary that people, especially government employees carry forward this trend of historic progress in economy and other sectors", he said and referring to the officials added, "your catalyst effect is imperative for development of Pakistan".
The Governor also appreciated the idea, floated by AG Sindh Zulfikar Ali Kadri, that every government department should have a grade BS-17 or above official to co-ordinate dealings with AG Sindh's office.
He said Pakistan's manufacturing industry was on progress and in this regard he cited production of 500,000 bikes now, as compared to 95,000 four years ago.
"Government officials had to perform their duties as facilitators and with innovations and gradual improvement should strive for sustaining and increasing present pace of development and prosperity", he advised.
