Indonesian share prices rose 0.94 percent to chalk up another record finish on Tuesday led by index heavyweight Telkom, dealers said. The Jakarta Stock Exchange composite index closed up 11.104 points at 1,189.327, breaking its previous record close of 1,186.614 set last Thursday.
Volume was 1.39 billion shares worth 1.12 trillion rupiah (114.33 million dollars). Advancers led decliners 77 to 32, with 90 stocks unchanged. Telkom was up 200 rupiah at 5,700 rupiah while sister company Indosat fell 100 rupiah to close at 5,700 rupiah.
Oil and gas firm Medco gained 50 rupiah at 3,100 rupiah, rebounding from its losses in the past two trading days with Sinaga saying it was supported by a renewed surge in world oil prices, which touched a record high of 62 dollars a barrel in overnight trade. Astra International was down 50 rupiah at 13,200 rupiah.
Perusahaan Gas Negara rose 125 rupiah to 3,325 rupiah with investors buying up the stock after it lagged the market's recent rally and amid expectations it will report strong first-half earnings, Sinaga said.
Bank Central Asia was up 100 rupiah at 3,725 rupiah, Bank Mandiri was unchanged at 1,630 rupiah, Bank Rakyat Indonesia lost 50 rupiah to 3,250 rupiah and Bank Niaga gained 30 rupiah to close at 530 rupiah ahead of a planned rights issue aimed at strengthening its capital to boost lending growth.
