Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that all foreigner students studying in Madrassahs would be sent back to their respective countries. Talking to newsmen after inspecting Passing-out Parade of Pakistan Coast Guards at the Training Wing here on Saturday, he said that visas of all the foreign students would be cancelled, adding that around 1,400 foreign students are studying in different Madrassahs in the country and came here individually but not at the government level.
He said all the Madrassahs running in all over the country would be registered and regularised by the year-end.
Sherpao said the law-enforcement agencies are working to curb terrorism and extremism in the country, adding all the banned organisations are being monitored and severe action would be taken against them in case they start any activity, he added.
He said that donation (Chanda) collection, use of loud speakers in mosques and the speeches caused to foment extremism are being monitored.
The minister said that all the Madrassahs should ensure to provide the modern education to their students along with the religious education. He also emphasised that the Madrassahs should train their students such a modern way so that they could become good citizens.
Addressing at the Passing Out Parade ceremony the minister said that the Pakistan Coast Guards is safeguarding more than 960-km-long coastal border of the country.
He lauded the services and performance of the Pakistan Coast Guards, saying the government would provide it all necessary support for better training of its personnel and equip the force with modern equipment.
He announced the building of 25 new residential units for lower grade personnel of the force so that they could keep their families near to their duty place. He also approved the maintenance of the parade ground and to build its boundary wall.
Earlier, the minister inspected the passing out parade of new recruits and awarded medals to the best performers. Recruit Sanaullah was awarded gold medal on his overall best performance during training, Recruit Afzal Ahmed won the medal for his best performance in educational activities, Recruit Ghulam Murtaza won the medal in physical training, while Recruit Asad Ali was given medal for his best performance during the training.
Pakistan Coast Guards Director General Brigadier Firzok Attaullah also spoke on this occasion and informed about the overall performance of the force to curb drug-trafficking in the country and safeguard the coastal borders of the country.
Sindh Pakistan Rangers Director General Major General Javed Zia, Sindh Provincial Police Officer (PPO) Asad Jahangir and other high-ranking officials were also present on this occasion.
