While expressing deep concern over the broad daylight dacoities in the city, LCCI Acting President Sohail Lashari demanded of the Punjab Chief Minister, Punjab Governor and IG Police to take immediate measures to improve law and order situation in the province.
In a statement issued on Friday, the LCCI Acting President said that at a time when the government was striving to bring in maximum foreign investment, the deteriorating law and order situation was putting a reverse gear to the efforts.
Referring to the dacoity of Rs8.9 million near LDA Plaza.
Sohail Lashari said that the business community played an important role in running the affairs of the country and the government should take special step to avert any such heinous crime, especially against business community.
He demanded of the authorities to activate the Citizen Police Liaison Committee on the pattern of Karachi as early as possible, so that the immediate measures to improve law and order situation could be taken.
LCCI Executive Committee Member and Convenor of Standing Committee on Customs and Ports, Aftab Ahmad Vohara has welcomed the appointment of Shahid Rahim Sheikh as Member Customs.
In a statement issued here Friday, Aftab Vohra said that as Collector Customs Shahid Rahim Sheikh earned a good name and hoped that he would continue to facilitate the businessmen as Member Customs while following the policies of Chairman CBR, Abdullah Yousaf.
He further said that appointment of Shahid would further strengthen the relations between the business community and the custom department.
"As Collector Customs, Shahid took many wise and important decision in consultation with business community in general and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in particular," he added.
He hoped that Shahid would continue the process of consultation with the business people.
