National Association of British Pakistanis Chairman, Khurshid Ahmed, has appreciated the ongoing confidence-building measures (CBMs) between Pakistan and India and expressed the hope that both of the countries would succeed in resolving all the outstanding disputes particularly the Kashmir problem through the composite dialogue. Talking to APP, he said that the United Kingdom was seeking the early peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue through the on going process of talks between India and Pakistan.
Khurshid said that during his recent meetings with various British parliamentarians and think-tank later expressed earnest desire for the peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue for the normalisation of relationship between the two countries and particularly for the sake of emergence of everlasting peace in the sub continent.
He said that the peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue was always in the interest of the Britain, adding that every democracy and freedom loving British leader was supporting the Kashmir cause with particular reference to the early peaceful resolution of the issue.
Khurshid applauded the active role of the Britain-based Pakistani and Kashmir expatriates for extensively highlighting the Kashmir cause besides for raising the image of Pakistan in Britain and rest of the western world, being the unofficial envoy of Pakistan.
The Pakistani expatriates leader also strongly condemned the continued massive human rights violations by the Indian-occupation forces in occupied Kashmir and urged the international fora and the global human right groups to take immediate notice of the continued human right abuses in the internationally acknowledged disputed held state.
To a question, Khurshid said that Pakistani expatriates, including 750,000 Kashmir expatriates settled in UK have established good name in all sectors of life in the British society. He said that existence of the two parliamentarians from Azad Kashmir and several popularly elected Kashmir born Lord Mayors and councillors in various British cities and towns are ample proof of this fact.
He said that the new generation of Pakistani and Kashmir expatriates in Britain had a great national spirit and enthusiasm and performing in an effective manner projecting the Kashmir cause in all spheres of the British society.
