Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that General Pervez Musharraf has introduced real democracy through district governments system in the country and ensured participation of people from union council to federation in the government affairs. "We will further strengthen this system," he said and added, "due to economic policies of President Pervez Musharraf and Primer Minister Shaukat Aziz the pace of development has increased."
The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting of MNAs and MPAs from Sialkot and Gujrat on Sunday.
Speaker National Assembly, Chaudhry Ameer Hussain, PML leader and MNA Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Provincial Minister for C&W and General Secretary PML Punjab, Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din, Provincial Law and Local Government Minister, Muhammad Basharat Raja, Provincial Minister for Industries Chaudhry Ajmal Cheema, Irrigation Minister, Aamer Sultan Cheema, Punjab Minister for Power, Armughan Subhani, Minster for Labour, Akhtar Hussain Rizvi, Chairman P&D, Sibtain Fazli Haleem, Secretary C&W, Ahmed Yar and Secretary P&D, Ahsan Raja were also present on the occasion.
Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that MNAs and MPAs should ensure their presence during the next budget session for effective representation of the people. He said a big cardiac center will be set up at Wazirabad on the pattern of Lahore and Multan cardiology centers for the benefit of people of Sialkot, Gujranwala, Jhelum and other cities.
He said under a phased programme, implementation of the decision of upgrading all middle schools to the level of high has been initiated.
He further said the government is implementing a comprehensive programme for providing necessary facilities in government educational institutions and raising their educational standard and best results are being achieved under Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme.
He said Assembly members and nazims should create awareness among the people regarding implementation of education programme. He said Punjab government has evolved a separate monitoring system in all districts so that timely completion of all the development projects could be ensured.
The Chief Minister also informed the participants that an effective programme is being implemented in order to improve water supply and sanitation system in the province for which huge funds have been allocated, which will improve the living standard of the people and better cleanliness facilities would be available to them.
