A delegation of Japanese government and financial institutions met City Nazim Naimatullah Khan here on Friday and presented a written report to the Nazim about the Karachi's revitalisation scenario, which contained proposals to make Karachi a modern city of the future. The delegation included: Takehiro Okubo, Head of the Economic and Development Section of Japanese Embassy at Islamabad; Hirokuki Miyakawa, DG Japan External Trade Organisation; Eri Kakuta, Economic Researcher at Japanese Consulate in Karachi; K Tamaki Project Formulation Advisor, JICA; Ochi, Chief representative of Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC) and Shaikh Talib Fateh, Co-ordinator Karachi.
City Nazim Naimatullah Khan presented his "Karachi Vision-2010" and said that it was his desire that Karachi should be a clean city of the future, free of problems of pollution, traffic and transport, sewerage and water supply; and a place where people should have no worry about jobs and where there should be development in the health and education sectors.
He explained his priorities with regard to five corridors of Mass Transit and Solid Waste projects.
The City Nazim said time has come that Japan brings its vision to coincide with our vision for future of Karachi, and take steps for its immediate realisation. The JICA representative informed the City Nazim that Japan was greatly interested in playing its role towards the development of Karachi and in this regard JICA had established its special office in Karachi.
