The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has developed a Central Information Technology Centre here at Civic Centre equipped with modern machinery and appliances. A meeting regarding the pace of IT development projects was held on Friday, chaired by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, in which EDO IT Mushtaq Rizvi, EDO Revenue Mohammed Waseem and other concerned officials were present. The centre will provide information technology services to 18 towns and 178 union councils.
The salaries, promotions, retirement, pension, provident fund, etc records of more than 0.1 million employees will be computerised and by next month the salary disbursement process would also be computerised.
During the meeting, the City Nazim gave directives that the record of billboards and advertisement hoarding of 18 towns should be computerised. He said that revenue of the CDGK could be increased by means of computerising thousands of billboards and hoarding signs, and according to law, 99 categories have been given trade licenses but it was needed to increase such categories.
