The Business Software Alliance (BSA), under its countrywide campaign against piracy, has arrested a computer dealer in Lahore for supplying unlicensed software and seized 1,021 CDs besides two new computers. "Software piracy is against the copyright law and we will come down hard on all the offenders," said a BSA spokesman quoting their co-chairman for Middle East Alredha, here on Friday. The companies, which failed to respect the copyright law, should be ready to face fines and police arrests that could have a significant impact on their business reputation too, he added.
"Software developers have changed the way businesses are done in the present era," he said, adding the BSA was committed to protect their works in every possible manner.
The latest police assisted raid was a part of the increased action, which the BSA was undertaking in Pakistan to tackle software piracy, he said and pointed out that the illegal software, found on the two confiscated computers, belonged to the BSA member companies.
