Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao will inaugurate 7.60-km long Park Road on Monday. An official of Capital Development Authority (CDA) told this scribe on Saturday that construction of 24 feet wide dual carriageway has been built at a cost of Rs 262.468 million. The dual carriageway starts from Rawal Dam Chowk, connecting Lehtrar road and other surrounding villages. Sources said that later on it would be declared a VVIP route after extension of the road under which CDA has already planned to construct dual expressway from Lehtrar to Islamabad International Airport aiming at to ensure safe movements of VVIPs or heads of states.
Senior official said the project started in May 2004 and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) completed it within the stipulated time frame.
