Punjab Government will provide free of cost plots in Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE) to every Chinese investor bringing more than dollars 20 million investment. Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) stated this while talking to a high-powered 16-member Chinese delegation, led by Hu Deping - a senior member of the ministerial committee of Communist party of China, which called on him here on Monday.
National Commission for Human Rights co-ordinator Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Human Development Fund founder member Brigadier Mukhtar Ahmed (Retd), Punjab Secretary Industries Major Javed Majid (Retd), Provincial Secretary Investment Saeed Ahmed Alvi were also present.
Besides, FPCCI foreign committee chairman Muhammad Imtiaz and former LCCI chief Yawar Irfan and businessmen having joint ventures partner with Chinese organisations were also present on the occasion.
"We have allocated 100 acres of land in Sundar Industrial Estate for Chinese investors, while a piece of land spreading over 25 acres has been allocated to Chinese Firm -Haier- for joint venture with the Pakistani businessmen", Khalid said.
The governor said it was a welcoming sign that because of Pak-China joint ventures the prices of motorbike had come down by 40 per cent in the country. Welcoming the Chinese delegation in Pakistan, he said from the day one China and Pakistan were true well-wishers of each other and added the recent changes taking place around the world had further strengthened the bond of friendship between the two neighbouring countries.
Pak-China friendship now has entered a new era and both the countries, apart from cooperation in diplomatic and security affairs, were co-operating in industrial sector, he added.
The governor told the delegation that Pakistani markets were flooded with Chinese products ranging from shoes to toys, while the demand of electrical appliances, textile products and automobile machinery manufactured by Pak-China joint ventures was on the rise.
He expressed the hope that cooperation between the two countries in trade and industrial sector would bring prosperity in the region.
The head of the Chinese delegation, who is also secretary general of Chinese Society of Promotion of Guangcai Programme, told the governor there were over 400,000 entrepreneurs in the private sector in China, who were manufacturing products of every quality.
He said under Guangcai programme, the Chinese Government would provide guidance about joint ventures in Pakistan through National Commission for Development, and extend all facilities to investors, who were making quality products with competitive cost of production.
He also informed the governor that a Shanghai based firm was also co-operating in bringing investment to Pakistan for manufacturing of components of machines, and Pakistan would be able to export Chinese-made vendors of hi-tech machines to the world.
