Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has expressed that the team management has made it clear to opener Mohammad Hafeez that his primary role in the team remains that of a batsman, even if he is allowed to bowl again.
According to local media report, “The new bowling coach worked with Hafeez for two days and we are confident that Hafeez is close to getting back to where he needs to be,” said Arthur. “He gives us the balance and an edge against left-handers. But we made it clear to him that for us, his batting remains a priority.”
Hafeez has faced problems with his bowling action since 2014 and in July 2015 was banned from bowling in international cricket for 12 months after his action was found to be illegal for a second time since November 2014.
Recently, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has hired Carl Crowe, a UK-based bowling coach, for Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez’s upcoming bowling action test.
The third Test starts on Wednesday, August 3.
